Brutal Fish Racing will expand to their biggest-ever line-up for the last round of TCR Europe at Monza on October 12-13. The Slovakian Team will run four Honda Civic Type R TCRs for the event at the historic Italian venue.
Joining team regulars Martin Ryba and Daniel Lloyd will be two drivers with plenty of Civic Type R TCR experience, Paul Ip and Josh Burdon.
Paul is the founder and Team Principal of KCMG, who compete in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, TCR Malaysia, TCR Japan and Super Taikyu with the Civic Type R TCR. Paul has raced for his Hong Kong-based team in both Japanese series this year while Australian racer Josh – a KCMG regular in the Intercontinental GT Challenge – has also raced the Civic in Super Taikyu.
While three cars will run in the traditional Brutal Fish Racing Team colours, the fourth will use a classic green-and-white Honda livery to celebrate the home race of car builder JAS Motorsport.
As JAS are based close to Monza, in nearby Milan, Brutal Fish Racing Team would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support in 2019, and will celebrate their relationship with them and Honda through this special livery.
Paul Ip - Hong Kong; KCMG owner and Team Principal, born 02/02/79
Josh Burdon - Australia; long-time professional racer, born 05/09/92
Martin Ryba, Team Principal & driver, Brutal Fish Racing, said: ,,We
met with Paul in January during the TCR Malaysia Series and became friends.
During one of our long ‘brainstorming’ nights, we had the idea to do a team
exchange, so he will drive for Brutal Fish Racing Team at Monza and in return,
I will race for KCMG in an event in Asia at some point. A few weeks ago he came
up with an idea to have Josh Burdon in the team at Monza too, and we’re very
happy with this.”
Paul Ip said: ,,I am very happy that the idea from January is now
getting real and I am really excited to join Brutal Fish Racing Team and TCR
Europe at Monza. The series is really tough and level of the drivers is high,
so we will see how I am going to finish. I am looking forward to spending the
weekend with Martin, Brutal Fish and JAS Motorsport.”
Josh Burdon said: ,,I would like to thank Paul and Brutal Fish for
this fantastic opportunity to join the exciting TCR Europe grid on the fabulous
track at Monza. I know the car very well so I can’t wait for the race weekend
to start.”
